Mood struggles during pregnancy and after the birth of a baby are very common.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought on many challenges to families as well, and there has been an increased need for mental health support.
There are many wellness strategies that can go a long way in battling back against the symptoms of anxiety and depression and help you feel better. Strategies such as:
- Nourishment – eating well can improve your energy and mood
- Understanding – learning more about postpartum and what’s happening to you
- Rest and Relaxation – making time to sleep and rest
- Support – getting support from others can help you feel better when you are stressed
- Exercise – being active helps you feel better physically and emotionally

A new resource for parents:
MomsOverMatter is a new, free online web application that is available to support maternal mental health during the postpartum period (birth – 12 months). It provides information, guidance and support as well as links to resources on different techniques to support your mental health.
This web app gives you the option to complete a short survey which contains questions about symptoms you may be experiencing. These surveys are not for a diagnosis but can provide you with information regarding postpartum mental health and wellness strategies.
Use of web app resources does not replace individual professional mental health support. If you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression during pregnancy or after birth, it is important to discuss this with your health care provider to determine the best treatment options for you.
